How To Build Trust And Make Changes
New Leader Series Pt. 6
Some new leaders feel like they need to start changing everything once they get into power.
In this case, it is usually because they feel like they have something to prove.
They want to build confidence with their team that they are leaders who are not afraid to take action.
The problem is that this has the opposite effect! What ends up happening is that these new leaders end up breaking down the very thing that they think they are building.
Trust is so important for all leaders, especially for new leaders. When you are new in the position and start making big changes, people start to feel threatened, they get insecure, they worry if they could be on the chopping block too.
You will never get the best out of your people if they are feeling this way. As a new leader, take the time to build relationships with your new team. Learn about how they will manage changes.
Ask lots of questions. Only when you feel like you have a good foundation with your team built on good communication, relationship and trust, should you start making changes.
When you do make those changes, and we will cover this in another segment in this new leader series, make sure you communicate, communicate, communicate around those changes.
I would love to hear from you! Let me know what you think of this series in the comments below! If you have any leadership questions or tips of your own, we want to hear from you!
All the Love,
